The «Yerlik» Museum opened in December 2012. On July 19, 2013, by Order No. 85, the branch of the Regional Museum of Local Lore was approved by the «Yerlik» Museum. The «Yerlik» Museum, opened in the «Zhenis» Park in Shymkent, is located on an area of 493.91 sq. m. the exhibition hall, which houses the main exhibits, is a huge giant with an area of 254.8 sq. m.The «Yerlik» Museum's exposition is planned to be expanded (2018) with the construction of an extension.
The state Communal state-owned Enterprise Shymkent City Museum of Victims of Political Repression, based on resolutions of the Akimat of the Turkestan region No. 270 dated December 9, 2021 and the Akimat of the city of Shymkent No. 362 dated March 3, 2022, was transferred from the communal ownership of the Turkestan region to the communal ownership of the city of Shymkent.According to the 2018 census, more than 307 thousand people were registered in the Yenbekshinsky district.
Based on document no.E 0022232454785 dated 03/29/2022, the branch of the non-profit joint stock company «State Corporation Government for Citizens» in the city of Shymkent is registered in the ownership of the Shymkent City Museum of Victims of Political Repression.
On the basis of regional and city resolutions, on March 29, 2022, the Turkestan Regional Museum of Local Lore was transferred from the balance sheet of the Shymkent City Museum of Victims of Political Repression, according to the act of accepting property with the Museum of Courage building.In November 2024, the Shymkent City Museum Association was established.
