INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM IN AKTAU PRESENTED SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH ON SHYMKENT MUSEUM EXHIBITS
On October 16–17, 2025, the 4th Meeting of Turkic World Museums was held in Aktau, featuring the international symposium “Stone Monuments – The Common Heritage of the Turkic World.” The event, organized by the Abish Kekilbay Regional Museum of History and Local Studies with the support of TURKSOY, became a significant part of the “Aktau – Cultural Capital of the Turkic World” year.
The symposium served as a unique platform that strengthened spiritual unity among nations and connected the ancient history and cultural roots of Turkic people. Museum directors and renowned scholars from fraternal countries discussed the mysteries engraved in stone and highlighted the importance of shared heritage.
Representing the Shymkent City Museum Association, Director Zh. Kurban delivered a comprehensive presentation titled “Cultural-Memorial Stone Complexes as the Cultural Code of the Steppe Civilization,” emphasizing the historical and cultural continuity of the Kazakh steppe.
Head of the Department for the Protection and Registration of Historical and Cultural Heritage, S. Duisebayev, presented his research “The Sairam Pillar and Its Sacred Significance,” revealing the spiritual value of sacred monuments in the region’s history.
During the symposium, participants discussed the development of museum work at the international level, the preservation and digitalization of exhibits, and the promotion of cultural tourism.
Such spiritually significant gatherings contribute to promoting the shared history of Turkic peoples and give new impetus to the development of the museum sector.
