On June 30, 2026, the archaeological and ethnographic traveling exhibition “The Southern Region – A Land of Heritage and Values” was held at the Visitor Center of the Otyrar State Archaeological Museum-Reserve in Talapty Village, Otyrar District, Turkistan Region. The exhibition was jointly organized by the Shymkent City Museum Association and the Turkistan Regional Museum of History and Local Lore.
The main purpose of the exhibition was to promote the 2,200-year history of the city of Shymkent, showcase the region’s rich archaeological and ethnographic heritage, raise awareness of its historical and cultural values, and strengthen interregional cultural cooperation.
The exhibition featured archaeological artifacts illustrating the history of ancient Shymkent along the Great Silk Road, as well as ethnographic objects reflecting the traditional lifestyle and craftsmanship of the Kazakh people.
The event brought together residents of the Otyrar District, museum professionals, local historians, young people, and guests, providing them with an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the region’s historical and cultural heritage.
This traveling exhibition represents an important cultural initiative aimed at promoting historical heritage, preserving national values, fostering historical awareness among younger generations, and further strengthening cooperation between museums.
